THE PERCH MUSIC & ARTS WORKSHOP
GARDEN CONCERT #2 - Rachel Andie & Hadley Whittle (Dream Home)
Under the pseudonym Dream Home, Hadley Whittle produces numinous art-folk, using elements of commercial melodies and found sound that center around themes of faith, birth, paradox, and the natural world. After completing studies in the humanities, she has spent time living in a variety of ecumenical communities around the world where she has written and produced alternative musical projects and continued to develop her craft in reclaimed-wood carpentry. She now lives in Northwest Philadelphia among friends who, like her, are concerned with cultivating community beyond online presence and towards a deeper reality.
Rachel Andie is a Japanese-American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and visual artist from Philadelphia. Her work weaves together elements of folk, jazz, and rock to create music that feels both introspective and cinematic. Rooted in her diverse heritage and personal history, her artistry connects across cultures and lived experiences, offering a perspective that resonates with audiences around the world. Through layered arrangements and emotionally rich storytelling, she invites listeners into soundscapes that linger long after the music ends.

Drum Major Instinct with Katherine Young, Glasspack & Negar Soley
Drum Major Instinct is an experimental music duo from Asheville, North Carolina. Jeff Arnal plays (mostly) percussion and Curt Cloninger plays (mostly) modular synthesizer. The Wire describes Jeff’s drumming as a “highly original concept” having “a balletic sense of time and imaginative deployment of colour;” and Byron Coley says Curt’s modular synthesis “moves like blocks of radioactive adobe being shifted around by architects in space suits.” But, of course, nothing is ever that straightforward. The resultant music is about waves of energy, patterns within patterns (within patterns), sounds from the natural world, and running the voodoo down. Their self-titled first release is on Mahakala Music (2022) and their latest 2025 LP (entitled "Almost Nothing") is on Haunted Apparatus.
